About

Design process

The design process begins with comprehensive research and ideation, where we gather insights on user needs and market trends to brainstorm potential concepts. We then sketch initial ideas and create user scenario mood-boards to develop wireframes that visualize functionality and layout. After identifying the most promising concepts, we move to 3D software for the development phase. Following adjustments based on the feedback, we finalize the design to ensure all specifications align with user requirements and manufacturing constraints. Finally, we deliver detailed design documentation, typically including photo-realistic renders in a visually appealing digital presentation, along with a 3D model file to ensure a seamless transition to production.

QUIET BLENDER

SUPOR 1.2 L blender with noise reduction

Introducing a revolutionary blender designed for SUPOR, equipped with a noise-reducing cover and a detachable 2.5 liter water tank. Its soft design language and warm color palette seamlessly fit into any home environment. The transparent, wavy polycarbonate cover effectively isolates blender noise during operation, ensuring a quieter kitchen experience. Featuring a wide touch display, the blender offers multiple blending programs to deliver optimal results, enhancing user satisfaction. A cleverly integrated water pipe within the jar handle connects the water tank to the blender jar, streamlining the blending process and enabling an auto-cleaning function for added convenience.
This innovative design was launched in 2024 for SUPOR. Personal contributions: design ideation, CAD modeling, refinements, and engineering oversight. Led by Design Director Evan Ma of One Object Design Studio.

MOKA-MP

Camping moka coffee pot

Camping season has finally started in Hong Kong after a long hot summer. For this new personal project, I decided to combine my love for outdoor activities and coffee breaks.
Moka-mp is a portable moka coffee pot for camping. The titanium material and the compact size makes it light and easy to carry.
Crafted from durable titanium, Moka-up is made to be durable and due to the soft shape design it’s also easy to clean.
Nowadays our life is highly digitized, people spend most of their time on phones and laptops. Sometimes it’s inevitable, due to our jobs and remote communication. And this is also why I wanted to design something that could somehow invite people to enjoy their precious free time in nature.

SHIMARU

Kyoto table lamp

During my travels in Japan, I found myself captivated by Kyoto, where the essence of minimal elegance and meticulous attention to detail in Japanese culture deeply inspired me. This fascination prompted me to initiate a project upon my return.

The circle, or “Maru,” embodies profound meanings such as continuity and the delicate balance between dualities like life and death. Similarly, the square, known as “Shikaku,” encapsulates the Maru’s essence within its defined edges, representing harmony and structure. Combining these two iconic shapes, I conceived the name Shimaru, blending Shikaku with Maru to reflect the refined simplicity of Japanese design.

I selected materials commonly used in Japanese craftsmanship, such as clear birch wood with traditional joints and semi-transparent rice paper for light diffusion. To infuse an Italian influence, I incorporated Carrara marble for the Maru, not only adding elegance but also providing practical stability to the lamp.

SITTO

Stool exhibition in Hong Kong

The idea was to translate Hong Kong into a stool that reflects the essence, the materials and the main elements of the City.
When I first arrived in Hong Kong I was surprised how vertical the city is. Sometimes when I walk around I have the feeling of being almost suspended in the air, I’ve never experienced something like that in any other places so I decided to bring that feeling to my design.

To add an extra connection with the City I decided to use the materials Hong Kong is made of. That’s why the bamboo, it recalls the iconic buildings structures, the concrete that is everywhere around and the rough metal, another material heavily visible in the city.

There’s also a practical reason for the materials choice, since it is designed mostly for street usage, it had to be sturdy and resistant to the strong Hong Kong humid and rainy weather conditions.

Regarding the design language I intentionally wanted to give a rough industrial look to better blend and keep the consistency with the style of the hidden Hong Kong lanes.

I hosted a collaborative exhibition titled “A Break on an Anonymous Street” with fellow young designers based in Hong Kong. Our aim was to engage in a design-social experiment, creating street stools for passersby to enjoy a brief respite while exploring the city. Each design was inspired by the essence and key elements of Hong Kong, showcasing the diverse backgrounds and nationalities of our group through six unique concepts.

On a hot, humid summer day in Sheung Wan, behind Craftissimo, we organized the interactive exhibition where attendees could meet the designers, converse, and experience firsthand each design concept.
